So I talk about games and writing them a lot, but I don't sit down and do it. Lander is a little game based around the Chipmunk physics library by Scott Lembcke. It's a very modest attempt, and mostly just for fun. I've always liked the lunar lander games and definitely anything that even has simple physics. It's rough and small at this point, but I am looking more at level design and what different elements can exist to make a fun game. As far as level design goes, I am trying out different things with spinning and moving platforms, and some kind of generalized triggering system. (rock slide begins just before you fly out of a tunnel, meteor shower begins when you enter a particular zone) For the game elements I am limiting everything to fuel conservation and just getting to the exit for now. I'd like to put in a scoring system that factors time and remaining fuel in, and maybe saves the high scores. I'll maybe do an Otaku class, crazy difficult version, but for now the focus is on getting all of the different components of a game in place, as well as tools to make level design and testing a little easier.
